Be Present

Story

One of the most valuable pieces of advice I’ve ever received is to make sure I’m mentally present, wherever I am. In today’s world, distractions are everywhere - we’re bombarded with notifications on our phone begging for our attention while the people around us are asked to ‘hold on just a sec, I need to take care of this.’

That was my life for a long time, and to be honest, it’s still something I find myself struggling with once in a while. Being present means wherever I am and whoever I’m with - they have my full attention. It means focusing on what’s in front of me instead of what’s next. 

Most importantly, though, it’s valuing the time we get with others.

A few months ago, there was a dad on Linked In that wrote a story that was enough to make any grown man cry. Reading it made me reflect on some changes I wanted to make in my own life, so rather than try to paraphrase, I wanted to share the link directly with those of you who may not have seen it. So where does that leave us? What’s the goal for this beautiful design? Part of the idea behind these four ombré designs is that they’re things we work at - we grow into them, just as the letters on the inside grow as you read them. For this one, though, I hope it serves as a reminder to take part in life around you - to appreciate every moment with others while you can.
