Be Still My Soul

Have you ever felt silence? There are so many times in my life that I can think of where the noise is almost deafening - where so much seems to be going on that it's hard to not feel anxious and overwhelmed. Navigating the responsibilities, interruptions, and activities we have on a daily basis is more than a full-time job - it's something that starts when we wake up and seems to make it hard for many of us to fall asleep. 

What's really interesting here is how this all impacts our self-worth. When we feel like we're not keeping up, the noise inside our minds is not only worried about everything that's going on, it's self-doubt about how 'good' we are at life in the first place. 

I know, it sounds weird to say it out loud, but it's true. Self-doubt's main form in my own life is one of my mind and my heart seemingly being at war with one another - my mind trying to figure out the reasons I can't keep up while my heart telling me it's okay, I'm only human. This gets me deep down, where I have to choose what I feel versus what I know to be true.

I believe that if we can take time to silence our worrying mind and listen to our heart, we discover something deeper - the desires of our soul. The longing for meaning in our lives, for love unconditionally and acceptance, exactly as we are. This still small voice is one that can only be heard in times of true silence, times without interruption or distractions from what's happening all around us. My hope for you, with this beautiful ZOX, is that you use it in the noisy times to remind you of what you've heard in the silence: That no matter what's going on around you, it's going to be okay.
