I have learned a very important lesson about balance from being a perfectionist. I used to think that my life always had to be in equilibrium. I would create lists each day and obsess over completing them before the day’s end. In reality, we will never be able to finish everything, meet every expectation, or goal that we set for ourselves. That's why we are given a whole life in order to accomplish our “to-do” lists rather than a single day. I have found that looking at life like a seesaw allows me to have a more realistic view of the world. Some moments I may be on the lower side, looking up, hoping for change. While other moments I may find myself on the higher side, feeling on top of the world, and accomplished. It’s important to remember to stay centered throughout your journey and to not put too much weight on the ups or downs, rather focus on the space in between. I believe that space is where we will find we are our happiest.
