Grow Every Day

Story

Personal growth is similar to the growth of a plant. We all start with our roots somewhere. That is our foundation. Our morals, values, rituals, and history, the beginning of our journey. Slowly, we grow from those roots, individuating into our own person. We find ourselves leaning on our own strength to stand, but know that those roots will always be there to support us if we get cut down. As we continue to grow, some days may bring heavy rains that may cause us to wither, while other days will provide sunshine that allows us to be nurtured in the ways that we need. We must realize that in order to grow, we need both sunshine and rain. Just as we need the good days and the challenges throughout life in order to reach our full potential. When that plant is ready, it blooms, showing the beauty that can emerge from hard work. In our lives, we bloom when we learn to love ourselves and accept who we are, for all that we are. Take a rose, for example, its thorns do not limit its beauty, yet add to the uniqueness of its kind. Our thorns and flaws are no less beautiful than the flowers, and blooms that grow alongside them. The greatest lesson to remember is that it does not matter the speed at which you grow, rather what you get from the journey. A little growth every day is better than no growth at all.
