Hakuna Matata

When I first moved to California, one of the terms I used to hear more than any other was "no worries."

It caught me off guard at first, as I had never heard it out in the midwest where I grew up. At first, I took it to be a replacement for saying "no problem." But the longer I was in LA, surrounded by some of the most relaxed people I had ever met, I began to realize its meaning was much more literal. 

One feeling that all of us know too well is the feeling of anxiety - of worry over things that may not even happen. We're anxious about the present and the future, while we worry about what happened in the past. Many times there isn't even a problem that's presented itself, we just worry about what future problems may come up. Think about that for a moment - how crazy it sounds to read: We worry about future problems we don't even know exist. 

That's why people say no worries.

Used that often, the phrase reinforces itself into our subconscious, helping us as a subtle reminder to just take a breath. Every time I said it I found myself becoming more relaxed, letting go of everything that was holding me down, and focusing more on being present. That's my hope for each and every one of you with this ZOX: That it reminds you to replace worry with relaxation. A hard ask, I know, but you can start with one simple phrase: No worries.
