Happy To Be Here

Story

The phrase and the strap Happy to be Here have a deeply special meaning to me. I got mine originally a couple of years ago and wore it until it was unrecognizable. I am a multiple suicide attempt survivor. So that phrase carries a lot of weight with me, especially today. My life today has never been better and now I can look you in the eye, and with my new Zox strap on my wrist, say, I, am Happy to be Here.

I recently fought and am winning a hard battle with addiction. As of writing this, I have 9 months clean. I am engaged to an amazing woman, we have a beautiful home, a nice vehicle that is almost paid off, amazing friends, and have both reestablished good relationships with our families. We are now active in our community, the recovery community, our church, and our children's lives. We are living life on life's terms and taking things one day at a time. None of that would be possible had any of those attempts been successful or were I still in active addiction. So how could I not be Happy to be Here, living my life to its fullest!

I feel like a whole person again, a new man. One of the things that got me through the dark times in my struggle was seeing those four little words on my wrist. Because they were a constant reminder that no matter how hard the struggle got, how dark the day seemed, how hopeless or desperate the situation, I was still in fact here, alive, and happy to be so. I will always be eternally grateful to Zox and Brandon for my strap and that daily reminder.
