I Am Safe

Story

One thing I've found interesting in my conversations within our community is our definition of 'home.'

Growing up, that home for me was always a house, with my family, in Michigan. As I got older, I moved out here to California into one of the most dangerous neighborhoods I've ever lived in. Twice, I saw people shooting at each other in the street outside my window. They say home is where the heart is, and that's true. But home is also how we refer to the place we feel the safest.

What makes that so difficult is that I know many of you don't have a safe place right now. Maybe that house exists, but the people who made it a home are no longer around or have hurt you in the past to a point where it no longer feels like a place you belong. Maybe the home was lost through financial hardship or a broken relationship, and even the thought of seeing it hurts as it makes you feel as though you've failed. Whatever the circumstance, I want you to know this: You're safe here.

My goal, for nearly 10 years now, has been to create a community where everyone can come, exactly as they are. Like it says on the packaging of every ZOX we make - ZOX is merely the icebreaker for amazing people to connect. I believe that no matter your circumstances, you deserve to feel safe - to feel like you have a home. This ZOX right here - it's my little hug to remind you of that. Every day, when you're feeling alone, isolated, stressed, and anxious - look at your wrist. This is your home, and you'll always be safe here.
