Story:
When I was a little girl, I was completely terrified of the dark. And of monsters. And of zombies. And so on. My dad started to read me horror stories before bed. I know that sounds counterintuitive, but he had learned that what was scaring me was that I didn't know what to do if a monster got me.

So dad would read me scary stories, where the hero would defeat the monster, and I would know what to do if I encountered it. It seems silly, but it helped me through the night and taught me to face my fears. Learn and read, study and you'll know what to do when you're in rather scary situations.
