Story:
For the longest time, I begged my dad to get a dog. Every birthday, every Christmas, every holiday in which gift giving was involved I hoped and prayed to receive a dog. Eventually, my dad finally gave in and allowed the search for a puppy to begin. We looked at all different breeds and rescue organizations near and far. One Saturday we decided to venture about an hour away from our house to go check out some puppies we had seen online that caught our eye. When we reached the shelter, we all gathered around the pen in which the puppies were being held. They were curious, a little mischievous, and cuter than ever. My dad pulled one out of the pen, laid her in his arms like a baby and the first thing she did was give him a big kiss across his face. At that moment we knew she was the pup for us. Fast forward 9 years later and my girl still hasn't left my side. Before having a dog, I never knew what joy could come from our furry friends. When I walk in the door, if I don't give her immediate attention she howls to remind me that she’d like to be greeted. She takes up the whole bottom of my bed, and snores easily as loud as any human. She’s a California girl, just like me, and is her happiest when she’s basking in the sun in the backyard. I couldn't imagine my life any other way. There are so many animals waiting in shelters to find their forever home, and you could be the person they’ve been waiting for!
